In Early Spring Engine 1 a 1997 E-one Cyclone Custom Pumper was involved in a non-injury single vehicle accident responding to a fire call. With the amount of damage to the vehicle the Board of Trustees choose to replace the vehicle. We have on order a 2013 Sutphen Rescue Pumper with delivery expected next week. The Engine will be equiped with a 6 person raised roof cab providing a safer enviroment for our firefighters to ride and get ready for emergencies. The vehicle will carry 1000gal of water and be equiped with a 1750GPM Hale pump which is an increase over our former Engine. The new engine is also equiped with a Command Light Tower on the top of the pumper that will allow us to illuminate our Emergency scenes to privide a safer working enviroment. The vehicle also has increased storage space for equipment allowing us to carry more specialized equipment making the Engine able to respond to many different types of emergency calls. The Engine also will be equiped with 2 thermal imaging camera allowing for safer and quicker search and rescue operations in structure fires. Over the next month watch for this Engine to start showing up around Summit-Ironville as our members train on it and become comfortable with its operation.
